15th September 2008 To Whom It May Concern Re: Januscz Miarka (the Polish Builder) Januscz renovated the ground floor of our Victorian house. He moved the kitchen from the middle of the house to the back. This involved knocking through walls, demolition of an existing utility room, preparation of walls, re-building the floor, instillation of new stairs and installing new floors throughout. He moved the boiler, renewed the plumbing and electrics and of course installed a brand new kitchen. Our house is old and cranky. It is not a straightforward house. It has lots of problems. Januscz worked with the house to bring out the best in it. It now looks fantastic because he pays particular attention to the finishing. Januscz is a perfectionist, whose work is of the highest standard. He is professional, punctual, hardworking, courteous, good-humoured and tidy. He makes every effort to minimise disruption – he worked around us, rather than us having to accommodate him (without us even asking). I know this sounds like I’m his mum, but he really is this good! Also, he’s fair and honest – if we ever overpaid, he would count this in his next invoice. Januscz is a godsend and I thank our lucky stars that we found him. I hired Janusz after talking to a friend who, having recently renovated his house, encouraged me to meet him and take a look at some of his work. My job was definitely not trivial: a full rewire of the electrics, new kitchen, new bathroom, new wood floor, entirely new central heating pipework, some replastering, new doors, new skirting and painting thoughout, so I was specifically looking for an experienced tradesman who could deal with many different aspects of interior renovation. I am pleased to say that the end result looks better than I ever expected, and I am extremely happy with it, but I am also just as pleased with the manner in which the work was carried out: I was always kept informed about what was being done, any problems or issues encountered, decisions I need to make - even ideas for improvement. He and his staff were also very respectful of neighbours, noise issues and so on. As well as being a very personable chap to deal with, Janusz is totally serious about his work, and does not compromise on quality. The standards to which he works, and demands from his staff, are painstakingly high - examples in my flat include the meticulous tiling in the bathroom, the level and precise fitting of the wood floor, even the way the cupboard doors line up in the kitchen. Corners are sharp and surfaces are flush, so much so I am struggling to write anything on my snagging list! He is also scrupulously honest - I have had receipts back for every single item of materials bought, so I knew exactly where the materials budget was going. If you are interesting in hiring a high quality, trustworthy professional, then I can certainly recommend Janusz. Janusz and his team did some work on my house in August 2007. They fitted and plumbed a whole bathroom suite and tiled the bathroom. He did an excellent job and the bathroom is extremely impressive and looks amazing. He also did some carpentry work and decorating to an extremely high standard. He is the best person I have had doing work on my house throughout a complete renovation. He works extremely hard, is highly skilled, has an excellent eye for detail and the quality of his work is the best I have found. Any job I asked him to do was done extremely well and the advice and suggestions he gave me were invaluable. I highly recommend him and will definitely get him back for any additional work I have.
